I’m always the one with the camera at parties…
My love for photography was born out of a near miss with a Fine Art Painting Degree at KIAD Canterbury (long story!) and I haven’t looked back ever since.
I graduated with a BA Hons in Photography from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2001 and thankfully I was one of the last batch of students to graduate from an ‘all film’ photography degree (i.e. we hadn’t really started using digital camera’s yet!)
In the years to follow I exhibited my work in Manchester, London and New York and since returning to Scotland to live in 2005 I have worked for The Skinny, DF Concerts (T in the Park/Connect Music Festival), XFM and various Scottish Newspapers.
Mostly due to requests by friends to photograph their ‘big day’ I began to focus on wedding photography. I didn’t realise just how much I’d enjoy being part of someone’s wedding day.
I’m always behind a camera, very rarely in front and I’m happiest when wondering aimlessly around a foreign city and viewing it from behind the lens.
I still take the opportunity whenever I can to update my portfolio with fashion, music and other interesting things…oh and lots and lots of photos of my daughter!
A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS…
My daughter, Marni. She’s ace. 1 year old and already the funniest person I know, My husband, Paul. He loves tidying up and cooking and I love him for that. My cameras. Digital/film/polaroid/pinhole. Travelling. Even though I hate flying! My favourite place so far? Japan (but hoping Brazil in July 2013 tops that). Visiting my best friends who live too far away. It doesn’t happen as often now that I’m a mum. But I miss them loads and always laugh until I cry when we meet up. Nights spent eating and drinking around our kitchen table. Particularly if there is a raclette in the middle of it. (Cheese Lover!) Cocktails (of any kind). Road trips to anywhere. Buying frames. You can never have enough frames. Unfortunately my husband does not share this passion. Paul (my husband’s) chocolate torte (the more bitter the better). I’m addicted to instagram & pinterest. It’s serious. Over-sized bags (think Mary Poppins) My husband, again, does not share this passion. Especially when I’m the one who has the keys! Red lipstick and leopard print. Miaow!
Keep up to date with what makes me tick, new work and general chitter chatter on FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM or PINTEREST.
