To photograph a couple’s wedding, then to return to photograph their first born is such a lovely thing to do. To then be asked again to photograph another new addition to the family is such an honour and something I don’t take for granted. Capturing a couple, and now a family, at different stages in their adventure really is one of the best things about this job.
Since shooting their wedding back in 2015 (you can check it out LOVE MY DRESS) I’ve really got to know Alex & Hugo and they feel just like friends. I know you probably hear lots of photographers say that but there really is something about spending time with people and having them let their guard down enough to allow you to capture them naturally which leads to you getting to know lots about them! It just doesn’t feel like work but instead like I’m hanging out with the coolest couple, with the coolest kids talking about lots of cool stuff - they are the brains behind the beautiful lifestyle brand Atla. Over the past few years they have shared so much of their adventure with me and I love hearing about how life is… where they have been, where they are going and what’s next for them. For me this is REAL family photography. This is about capturing not just some people but a stage in their lives. A moment to reflect on and say ‘this was when… ‘
The guys stopped off in Edinburgh on their way back to London from a trip to their sanctury on the isle of Eigg…precious family time they shared on a remote Scottish Island in the cold days of a scottish summer. I hope these are the memories and stories that will surround my images.
